Half animal and man

      Half animal and man in my shambling frame
      I ache toward the open doorway;
      wounded and wronged in my make-believe flesh,
      blazed and amazed by a million teardrop eyes,
5     my every ear alert to illumination
      in the star-flying dark and flak daylight-
      I hunch against the wind of forever come.
