by an anonymous Medieval English poet.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>From the poem:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> Listen sweetly, for I will tell a dream\u2013of all dreams, the best\u2013come to me at guilty midnight, while the other voices slept, and I was wakeful.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nBefore me twisted and rose up a wondrous Rood, brighter than leaf-light, enveloped by beams.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nBurnished as a battle-standard, it stood, lovingly covered in gilt foil of gold.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWhere its root-end reached earth lay bright tangles of rivery gems;
